About
Here is a little bit about myself!
Born in Malta I have always been a sea lover, the sea is my place of refuge. A second home, the zone where I so naturally unwind and feel free. I FREEDIVE every chance I get! All year around.
My father gave me my first Spear sling (froxna) when I was around five years old. It was probably one of the best days of my life. I still remember it clearly, he thought me how to use it safely and how to eat your catch. Something I look forward to teaching my son very soon! As a kid we always had a small boat in the family and like most Maltese families we would spend most time by the sea (in my case spearfishing all day) escpecially during the summer months. As a kid I remember being mezmorized by good spearos and movies which featured freediving like the Blue Lagoon and The Big Blue. I envisioned holding my breath for minutes and going deeper, becoming a dolphin man, I can now say that I have realized that dream.
I took apnea to a higher level in 2009 when I returned back from my 5 year soul finding pilgrimage. Back on the rock and teaching Meditation I naturally took to the sea. With a group of close friends I completely swallowed the FREEDIVING BUG and got hooked!
Not long after I helped create the Malta Freediving Club for which I am still its president. The aim of the club is to promote our sport safely across the Islands, as well as other objectives.
In 2012 I met my good friend and former freediving world champion- Jesper Stechmann. A few years later we formed the first FREEDIVING centre & company in Malta & Gozo. Two and a half years later I decided to set up my own centre – FREEDIVER MALTA & GOZO
I Love to teach and help others to ease into the serenity of FREEDIVING. To me FREEDIVING is a life style and the process of learning the skill is often life changing. Without a doubt the practioner learns more about themselves, feels a deeper sense of calm and peace and not just in the sea. As a result of learning Mediation in Asia, I also teach Meditation to patients suffering from stress related conditions.
In 2017 we set up Malta's first FREEDIVING competition, I took part in free immersion, winning a Gold medal and National record at 42m. Since the day we opened our centre in Dwejra, FREEDIVING has really grown popular on our Islands. It stands to reason, the Maltese archipelago have been exceedingly popular with scuba divers for so many years, it was only a matter of time before FREEDIVING gained international popularity.
2020 has been my busiest year.
